BN3 3HT 10861 I have been a carer for six years. I hold an enhanced DBS and I update all my carer training every year. I am English, brought up in Sussex, but have lived, taught (English as a foreign language), raised two daughters in Greece over the past 35 years. I am very energetic, well educated, able to think around things and get things done, love nature and animals, yoga, painting, walking, writing and reading. I speak Greek and am extremely interested in other cultures. I lived and worked as a teacher in Saudi Arabia for a year and a half and I have written several children's books. I follow a plant based diet so I cook dairy free but love cooking generally and can cook excellent Greek, Indian and British food. My success as a carer has been because I am willing, friendly and capable of doing anything I'm required to do.I have had experience with many different clients ranging from those recovering from falls, to early dementia or just companionship and the security of having someone to help with everyday living. I am efficient and able to run a house smoothly. I enjoy looking after any pets or animals that a client may have. I love being outdoors, gardening or walking. I prefer a position that is companionship and light medical, which involves household duties and any shopping. I do drive but prefer not to have unless absolutely necessary, as I'm used to driving on the other side of the road to the UK. Having said that, I am willing to drive but not on motorways. I am generally very positive and calm which I think is an important part of being a carer. I believe in respecting the clients privacy in their own home whilst at the same time being supportive and available for their every need. I am available for respite care( if the permanent carer/family member needs a holiday) or for three to four weeks at a time. Ideally part of a rotation with another one or two carers is what works well for me as my permanent abode is in Greece. 1 2 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":true,"field_care_type_first":"3","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":true,"field_care_type_second":"3","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":true,"field_care_type_third":"3","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":true,"field_care_type_fourth":"3","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":true,"field_care_type_fifth":"3","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":true,"field_care_type_sixth":"3","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":true,"field_care_type_seven":"3"}

Understanding dementia with alzheimer's society

BN3 5RA 60825 A strong calm sensitive person who enjoys helping adult and elderly people live the best life they are able. Reliable,kind and gentle and able to adapt to the needs of my client. Learns quickly what help a person needs and able to assist them to organise their lives to include trips to beauty spots and tea out. Good ability to liaise with other professionals to get the support they need, whether from gp, optician, dentist, or social services. I can also drive them to appointments. I find out what meals they enjoy most and make sure they have as wide a variety as possible of fruits and vegetables. I enjoy cooking and am able to cook meat based traditional meals and plant based wholegrain meals. When I cook roast chicken, I make many meals afterwards, including soup from the bones. I was brought up on a market garden and enjoy helping in the garden. I love nature and the countryside, music, Art, books, reading aloud, poetry and crossword puzzles. I understand the benefit of going out to sit in nature, a concert, or having friends round, and I am happy to facilitate social occasions and make sure they are centred around the person I am caring for. I know how to be in the background but can also be sociable if invited. I have worked as a student nurse in Brighton hospitals for 1.5 years, as a domicilliary carer in Brighton for 2 years and in a care home in Hove for 2 years and have been a live-in carer for 8 years. I have looked after a gentleman who had Alzheimers, from diagnosis, as his live-in carer until he had to go into a care home because his house was unsuitable when he could no longer walk. His family are happy to give me a reference. I have been a live-in carer helping a woman walk again with rehabilitation exercises given by a physiotherapist. Also looked after a woman after she had had a hip operation, helping with exercises and going for walks. As a qualified Shiatsu practitioner (dip Shiatsu massage) and a Reiki practitioner and teacher of many years, people find my presence very calming and reassuring. I like to laugh and see the humour in most things and am able to laugh at myself. I am calm in a crisis and have done first aid training many times. I worked as a volunteer in Brighton in St John's ambulance service for over a year. I believe that healthy people, if behaving responsibly and testing very regularly, should be able to choose whether or not to have the Covid vaccination, and I am not going to have the vaccination at present. I protect my health rigorously and test regularly. I do not work with people with extremely challenging or aggressive behaviour but understand everyone, especially if they have a debillitating illness, need to express their frustration at times. I generally only work with couples if they have very few complex care needs. 2 2 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":false,"field_care_type_first":"","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":false,"field_care_type_second":"","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":false,"field_care_type_third":"","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":false,"field_care_type_fourth":"","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}

BN41 2TA 13946 Hello! My name is Shelley and I started my career in care when I was 17 working in a nursery setting, I achieved my Level 2 in child care and education before moving in to residential care for adolescents aged 12-16 where I achieved my level 3 in social care. From this I moved to elderly care and have been working as a palliative carer for Alzheimer’s and dementia and cancer patients. I have two daughters who are aged 22 and 19 and I am also a young grandmother to two beautiful children. I am very family oriented and enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy going out for walks in the countryside, cooking various cuisines and listening to music. I am friendly and compassionate and take pride in caring for others. I recently worked privately for a family and I was the main care giver to a husband and wife who both sadly had Alzheimer’s and dementia, I cared for the wife right up to her last days then continued to care for her husband until his passing. The family became an extension of my own family which is what I love about my career path. I am a compassionate and experienced home carer with a passion for helping others. As a female carer with a wealth of experience in providing care to individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment, Parkinson's Disease, bedbound patients, and those coping with anxiety and depression, I am dedicated to ensuring the well-being and comfort of those under my care. With a knack for providing personalized assistance in activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, dressing, catheter care, and emotional support through companionship, I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my clients. One of my key attributes as a carer is my ability to drive, and I am fortunate to own a car, enabling me to provide reliable transportation for my clients to medical appointments, social outings, and other activities. Beyond my professional skills, I bring a warm and friendly presence to my caregiving approach, creating a nurturing and supportive environment for those I care for. In my free time, I enjoy hobbies such as walking, playing card games, cooking and baking, decorating, and socializing with friends and loved ones, all of which contribute to my well-rounded approach as a carer. My motivation for caregiving stems from a deep-seated desire to help people lead independent and fulfilling lives, regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges. I take great pride in my role as a carer and find immense fulfillment in making a positive difference in the lives of those I care for. With a love for animals, including cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, and birds, I bring a nurturing and empathetic approach to my caregiving practice, ensuring that each individual receives the personalized care and attention 1 1 {"field_week_day_first":1,"field_is_available_first":true,"field_care_type_first":"1","field_week_day_second":2,"field_is_available_second":true,"field_care_type_second":"1","field_week_day_third":3,"field_is_available_third":true,"field_care_type_third":"1","field_week_day_fourth":4,"field_is_available_fourth":true,"field_care_type_fourth":"1","field_week_day_fifth":5,"field_is_available_fifth":false,"field_care_type_fifth":"","field_week_day_sixth":6,"field_is_available_six":false,"field_care_type_sixth":"","field_week_day_seven":7,"field_is_available_seven":false,"field_care_type_seven":""}
