I have worked with people with dementia, anxiety and depression. I understand the importance of listening and working at the pace the individuals are comfortable with, to ensure that all of my engagement is positive and supportive and, most importantly, in the best interests of the client. I enjoy helping clients feel their best, and recognise that it means a great deal to some, especially to promote confidence, which often lessens in later life. I worked with one lady for over two years, through Covid, and liaising closely with her family I helped co-ordinate a small outdoor gathering for her 80th birthday. I helped her with her hair and clothes and provided all of the reassurance she needed to relax and enjoy her day reuniting with close family. She had a wonderful time and the family have expressed their gratitude to me for that special day. This lady I cared for sadly passed away in June last year following ill health and several months in a nursing home. I visited her frequently in her nursing home and spent time with her and her family during the very difficult final days. In addition to being able to provide the varying practical support required such as eating, cooking, personal care, cleaning and administrative support, I also have a full clean driving licence and very much enjoy taking clients out for outings and to meet friends. Providing companionship and helping my clients to enjoy their day to day lives as much as possible is very rewarding. I have had very positive feedback from the families I have supported and I want to build upon that experience in my future roles. I love to read and very much enjoy being out in nature. I like to go on walks with my family and discover new places. Like cooking, would be lovely to get clients involved in it as well. At the minute I am available 9am-11am Monday and Friday, Tuesday -Wednesday most of the day Half day every other Saturday. Can work on Bank Holiday.( time and a half ) Would love to work with more mobile clients as have more experience so feel would be more beneficial to the client. I used to be a PA but being a carer has given me the opportunity to make a difference to people's lives, to bring smiles to their faces and to provide much needed support which has left me feeling more fulfilled. I take pride in building a respectful and thoughtful relationship with my clients and their families. I have supported clients of all ages from 6 to 102 and with vastly varying needs. my priority is always to provide care and support to enable my clients to live the best version of their life possible. I have previously escorted clients on outings to shops, social engagements, medical appointments and recreational activities. I have supported clients with medicine regimes on numerous occasions including the checking and dispensing or medicine (from a blister pack) as well as prompting.
