I work one permanent night shift a week but provide additional day cover as and when needed. I cover all aspects of personal and domestic care to include bathing, showering and managing medication. I am responsible for preparing all of her meals - this covers shopping, cooking and freezing them for the month. I have accompanied my client on mini-breaks to provide support and companionship. I also have experience of working for a gentleman who had MS together with a man who had an acquired brain injury. I have worked as a Health Care Assistant at the Princess Royal Hospital but much prefer providing care/support on an individual basis where you can give 100% of your time to the client. I have worked for Age Concern providing domestic support in the home. I have first hand experience of dealing with dementia on a personal level. Prior to having my family in 2000, I worked for Lloyds Bank as part of the loss adjustment team following the pension mis-selling scandal. In addition I have 12 years experience calculating, running and paying company pension schemes. My preference is to be in and around Sussex/Guildford which gives me the opportunity to be close to family, although I am happy to travel a little further. I have worked in many different roles, each client is unique and everyone has a different care package, I have also worked with palliative care clients, although at times sad but, to give that care to clients in that time of need was a wonderful experience. Prior to that, I cared for a lady for 5 years. We were very close and did everything for her, from personal care, cooking, driver, shopping, appointments, and much more. She loved going out, and with the use of her mobility car, it gave her so much pleasure to socialise with family and friends, shopping, and all appointments. I have cared for many wonderful people, all with different needs, and I am so grateful for the knowledge I have gained and the opportunity to travel extensively. I promote dignity during personal care. I have the ability to be empathetic and compassionate towards my clients. I always try to encourage independence and ensure that I do not take over carrying out tasks for my clients, I support and encourage them to do as much for themselves as possible. I am a happy, bubbly person and love to make my clients happy and laugh as I am always laughing. Life is short.
